I write in different ways, and often there is a concept behind what

that I wrote, "Heathen," has something of a more spiritual quality

than something like this new album that I've written, which is

called "Reality." I think the sense of urgency that probably can be

felt in this album has an awful lot to do with the fact that it does

reflect the area of New York that I live in. I can't help but do

that anyway. I mean, if I lived in Sweden you'd really know about

it.



I think that this album that I've just written really is more

anecdotal and is kind of past glimpses of people that I felt that I

might have known, or that I did know - amalgams of people from New

York, really.



I just assembled a group of songs which I find enjoyable to play,

and I hope that they'll be really fun to play on stage.



I'm very aware that I am touring this year, and this album will

become a big part of that tour. So, therefore, all the musicians on

this album are from my working band. I'm not really very keen to put

on much of a theatrical show, you know, in terms of big sets and

elephants and fireworks and things like that. Of course, it doesn't

mean that I won't go back on my word because that's, you know, part

and parcel of what I do for you. Part of my entertaining factor is

lying to you.



I do write a lot, and I write all the time, you know. So, it's

really better if I can get at least one album out a year. I think

over the last few years I've gotten quite self-satisfied without

being just an interpreter of my own songs.
