Somewhere in this amazing cold there is a song. Anyway, that's what I believe. I put on my down-filled ski outfit and double lined boots yesterday and went into my work room and after half an hour or so, uncovered a poor little frozen verse covered by leaves, waiting for the spring, no doubt.

I took it into the living room and propped it up by the fire for a few minutes till the colour returned to its face. Now I think it is healthy enough to meet a chorus or two. I will go search for these orphaned verses all this week and return them to a state of excellence. Then, when they are standing on their own, I will record them. Damn this cold !!

ein armer kleiner gefrorener Vers (??--Z.) bedeckt von Blättern; ohne Zweifel auf den Frühling wartend....Ich nahm ihn mit den das Wohnzimmer und lehnte ihn beim Feuer an bis die Farbe wieder zurückkam in sein Gesicht. Nun denke ich ist er gesund genug für.....Ich werde weitersuchen nach all diesen verwaisten Versen (=Wesen --Z.) die ganze Woche und sie in beste Qualität versetzen. Dann, wenn sie auf eigenen Füssen stehen können, werde ich sie aufzeichnen (=aussetzen???  --Z.). Verwünsche (fluche) diese Kälte!!

This weekend will see the start of several parades and events in Chinatown as it is now the beginning of the Chinese New Year. 2003 is the year of the black sheep. Those born in it are going to be drawn towards acting, gardening and beachcombing. Beachcombing ? Well then.

The economy down here had been hit hard, many small mom and pop businesses struggling to survive, so everyone is going all out to make a big impression to attract attention to this area.

There should be plenty of activity down the road on Grand Street, dragons and lions, jugglers and floats. All the streets will be closed to traffic. It will be the first time Lexi has seen all this so we're hoping the temperature is somewhere above -70 so that we can stand on a street corner and have a look. Failing that, we'll try and get into a little cafe early and get a table by the window. Be ready for lots of red and gold.
